Indications of Midula 5

  • Symptomatic Orthostatic Hypotension

Dosage and Administration

Treatment is generally initiated with lower strengths and adjusted based on clinical response.
 

  • MIDULA 5 tablets are administered during daytime hours while patients remain active in an upright position.

  • Doses are usually taken at 3-4 hour intervals, with the final dose administered at least four hours before bedtime.

  • The maximum recommended daily dose is 30 mg.

  • Tablets should be swallowed whole with adequate water and should not be chewed or crushed.

Contraindications
 

MIDULA 5 should not be used in patients with :
 

  • Hypersensitivity to Midodrine

  • Severe organic heart disease

  • Hypertension

  • Acute kidney disease

  • Severe renal impairment

  • Serious prostate disorders

  • Urinary retention

  • Proliferative diabetic retinopathy

  • Pheochromocytoma

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • Narrow-angle glaucoma

Warnings and Precautions:

Patients should undergo regular blood pressure monitoring during therapy.

Caution is recommended in patients with :
 

  • Autonomic nervous system disorders

  • Atherosclerotic disease

  • Renal dysfunction

  • Hepatic impairment

  • Bradycardia

  • Prostate enlargement

Drug Interactions:
 

Midodrine may interact with :
 

  • Sympathomimetic agents

  • Vasoconstrictors

  • Digitalis preparations

  • Corticosteroids

  • Alpha-blockers

  • MAO inhibitors

  • Tricyclic antidepressants

  • CYP2D6 inhibitors
