IBFIX 550

Rifaximin Tablets IP 550 mg

Targeted relief for gut-related infections and hepatic encephalopathy

IBFIX™ 550 is a broad-spectrum, non-systemic antibiotic containing Rifaximin 550 mg, developed for the management of gastrointestinal conditions such as hepatic encephalopathy, IBS-D, and traveler’s diarrhea.

With minimal systemic absorption and targeted action in the gut, IBFIX™ 550 provides effective treatment with a favorable safety profile.

Indications – When to Use IBFIX™ 550

IBFIX™ 550 is prescribed for:

  • Hepatic Encephalopathy: Helps reduce the recurrence of episodes by lowering gut-derived toxins

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea (IBS-D): Offers symptomatic relief from diarrhea and bloating in adults

  • Traveler’s Diarrhea: Caused by non-invasive strains of Escherichia coli

Rifaximin works locally in the gastrointestinal tract. It binds to the beta-subunit of bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, inhibiting bacterial RNA synthesis.

Its non-systemic nature ensures that it targets harmful gut flora without affecting the rest of the body, reducing the risk of systemic side effects.
