IBFIX 400

Rifaximin Tablets IP 400 mg

Gut-specific antibiotic for targeted GI care
 

IBFIX™ 400 is a gut-selective, non-absorbed antibiotic formulated with Rifaximin 400 mg. It is designed for the effective treatment of traveler’s diarrhea, hepatic encephalopathy, and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).

With minimal systemic absorption, IBFIX™ 400 acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract, offering targeted relief with fewer systemic side effects.

Indications – When to Use IBFIX™ 400

IBFIX™ 400 is indicated for the treatment of:

  • Traveler’s Diarrhea (non-invasive Escherichia coli)

  • Hepatic Encephalopathy – To reduce the recurrence of episodes

  • Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)

  • IBS with Diarrhea (IBS-D) – Off-label, under physician supervision
     

How It Works

Rifaximin inhibits bacterial RNA synthesis by binding to the β-subunit of bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase.

 

It acts directly in the GI tract, delivering antibacterial action where it's needed most — without significant systemic absorption.

Contra
indications

Avoid use if the patient has:​

  • Known allergy to Rifaximin, Rifampin, or other rifamycin derivatives

  • Intestinal obstruction
     

Dosage & Administration

Adult Dose:

  • As directed by the physician


​Administration:

  • Swallow tablet whole with water

  • Do not crush, chew, or break

  • Can be taken with or without food

  • Always follow your physician’s dosage recommendation

 

Warnings & Precautions

  • Not intended for systemic infections

  • Use cautiously in severe liver impairment

  • May cause bacterial resistance with long-term use

  • Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been established, use only under medical supervision

  • Monitor liver function in long-term therapy
